Week 1 Introduction to Sound and Recording Environments (cont'd)
We will look at early conceptual artists, composers, and multimedia pioneers who began incorporating sound into their work. Learning to record and edit basic recordings.
->Tuesday Listen to Assignment #1 Survey of contemporary and historical sound-art and sound-design.
->Thursday - production experimentation in sound-recording and microphone placement.
Class will not meet at UCSD. As an extra-credit production-drill, students may attend my collaboration workshop downtown at Museum of Contemporary Art (5:00-7:00pm).

Week 2 - Language
->Tuesday Examine and discuss artists and others who have used audio production as a primary storytelling medium with special emphasis on speech and language.
->Thursday We will explore the meanings that sounds carry when we hear them and how to exploit the cultural and psychological meanings we find in sounds. Introduction to the fundamentals of sound-design.

Sound design and recording techniques in video & film. Using Pro Tools to edit dialog elements andadd foley, effects, and other sound cues.
